Fill those hungry tummies with these fun and delicious after school snacks for kids. Simple for mom to make and scrumptious for kids to eat!
What is it about after school and food? Growing up I always had a snack as soon as I got home from school or I would be eating a snack while doing homework.
My favorite after school snacks were tortilla chips and salsa or raw ramen noodles. Not the healthiest choices for a growing body. Do you remember your favorite after school snacks growing up?
What should kids eat after school?
After school snacks for kids need to be healthy and filling but not so filling that kids don’t want to eat dinner.
Try to have a snack with protein power. Peanut butter or almond butter are great options for a healthy and filling snack option. 3 of the snack recipes below contain peanut butter.
Make a healthier peanut butter choice by choosing a peanut butter without added sugars. Most stores have a generic brand of natural peanut butter. Read the label. Even some peanut butters that say “all natural” will contain added sugars.
Fruits are a great choice for a quick energy boost. Plus they offer a sweet taste that’s not processed.
