We hear the phrase a lot or may even use it ourselves, “I’m just a mom”. Even typing the phrase makes me a little sad because I have used these exact words many times. It’s like, all of a sudden bringing a new living breathing life into this world was suddenly a small task. Something that left no trace on the earth.
Moms- I’m asking you to please not discount your worth!
I want moms to know their worth! When did being a mother become an unworthy task? Mothers Day is around the corner and it’s time to celebrate your worth as a mom! Let’s define the word. Worth means sufficiently good, important, of high value or merit. Wait- read that again! Worth means sufficiently good, important, of high value or merit.
Mothers are very important. We shape the next generation. In fact, in the Bible God calls us to train up our children. Proverbs 22:6 (ESV) says “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” God has chosen many women to give the role of motherhood to.
Proverbs 31:10 (NIV) exemplifies a mother’s worth saying “She is worth far more than rubies.” A mother’s worth is of very high value.

Mothers speak life into their children. They comfort them when they are hurt. They look out for their family and provide them a safe landing place. They are available morning, noon and night.
You Are Worthy
Mothers are teachers. They help to direct and guide their children in the early years of development. They play an ongoing role in their children’s lives. They teach them right from wrong. They let them learn from experience and are there to catch the tears.
You Are Worthy
Mothers are household managers. Making sure the pantry and fridge are stocked. They are the expert chef of macaroni and cheese. They add notes of encouragement to their children’s lunch sack. They provide clean clothes each day and are happy to mend a rip.
You Are Worthy
Mothers love in every season. When there are no more diapers to change she can wipe a nose. When there are no noses to wipe she can tie a shoe. When there are no more shoes to tie she can help you read. When you don’t need help reading she can drive you to practice. When you don’t need a ride she can be a listening ear.
You Are Worthy
God chose you to be a mother. Motherhood is a calling and you wear it well. So don’t let the lies of “You’re just a Mom” wear you down. Stand tall and proud in your calling of Motherhood!
