When you have all your cleaning supplies organized and in one place the mundane task of cleaning your home will be a little easier. Stock a cleaning caddy to help you get the job done quickly.
How To Create A Cleaning Caddy
A cleaning caddy is an organized and efficient way to house all the supplies you need to clean your home. With all your cleaning products in an easy to carry caddy you won’t waste time searching for the right supplies to clean.
Creating a cleaning caddy is easy. Just follow the steps listed below to making a cleaning caddy for your home or living space.
Take Inventory
Take an inventory of the cleaning supplies you already have. Start by gathering all your cleaning supplies from around the house. Check your bathroom, laundry room and kitchen.
Go through your cleaning products. Condense products into one bottle. Throw out bottles that are empty or that you no longer use.
Make a list of items you need to replace. Go ahead and buy a new toilet brush too (it’s probably pretty gross!).

What do I put in a cleaning caddy?
This is a list of the cleaning products I personally use and have in my caddy. I like to make my own non-toxic cleaners when possible or use non-toxic cleaning products.
Your caddy should hold your favorite products. This list is a great place to start and covers all the basic cleaning supplies you need for your home.
All Purpose Cleaning Spray– I make mine with 1 cup distilled water, 1 Tbsp liquid castile soap and 10-15 drops essential oil. I also like to use Young Living’s Thieves Household cleaner.
Disinfecting Spray– I make a DIY with 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup distilled water and 15 drops lemon essential oil (Do NOT use vinegar to clean granite!).
After you make your cleaning sprays make sure to add a label. I used this pack of chalk labels and a chalk marker.
Toilet Bowl Cleaner– BonAmi cleaning powder. Sprinkle in toilet bowl and let sit for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes scrub your toilet.
Microfiber cloths– I love the Norwex brand EnviroCloth. You can clean surfaces with only water! This is a fun and safe way for your littles to help you clean.
Window cloth– Norwex again! All you need is water and the Norwex window cloth to get a streak free shine on your mirrors and windows.
Toilet brush– Choose a toilet brush that has a holder so the bristles aren’t touching your caddy or cleaning supplies. Be sure to replace your toilet brush every 6 months.
Scrub brush– You’ll need a scrub brush for showers, tubs and sinks.
Sponge– I don’t use a sponge often but when I do I like it to have an abrasive side.
Rubber gloves– Select a good fitting pair of rubber gloves. Playtex make a good fitting pair for women’s hands.
Duster– I use a Swiffer disposable duster or a reusable/washable Norwex brand dusting mitt.

Select Your Favorite Caddy
My caddy was a hand-me-down from a friend. But it absolutely does the job and works perfectly for me.
When selecting a caddy make sure it’s big enough to hold all the cleaning supplies you need. Choose a caddy with a good handle.
Select one that is deep enough to hold spray bottles and supplies without them spilling out while you’re carrying it.
Remember you are trying to house all your cleaning supplies in the caddy so there is no searching your home for the cleaning product you need when it’s time to clean!
Pick a caddy in your favorite color or with a fun pattern. Cleaning can seem less of a chore if all our supplies are in a super cute caddy!
TIP: If you have a 2 story home or basement make a cleaning caddy for the main floor and another for the upstairs/basement. Cleaning supplies will be ready to go for each floor of your home.
Benefits to Using A Cleaning Caddy
When all your cleaning supplies are in one spot you are not wasting time searching for the tools you need to complete the job. Let’s be honest, if I start a cleaning job and run and am missing something I most likely will not get the cleaning job done right. I may not even finish the cleaning job at all.
With all your cleaning supplies in a caddy you know when you need to replace items. You can quickly replace cleaning products when you bring them home from the store too. You know exactly where to put your cleaning supplies.
A cleaning caddy is easy for kids to carry. When you ask your kids to clean the bathroom or their bedrooms all they need to grab is the cleaning caddy.
Now that you have created a cleaning caddy you are ready to keep your home in top condition! Store your caddy under a sink, in the laundry room or mudroom. You choose the best location for storing your caddy. Happy cleaning!
