If you’re looking for a fun tradition to start for Valentines day that is fun yet inexpensive then this Heart Attack Valentine activity is the perfect idea.
I like to make the holidays special for my kiddos but I also need it to be easy and inexpensive. I like to show them how much I care about them with something personal and meaningful.
For Valentines day I started the tradition of putting sticky notes on my kiddos door leading up to Valentine’s day. We call them a Heart Attack Valentine. Each evening I would add a new note that said something I loved about them.
By Valentine’s Day they had 14 love notes all over their door. It is fun to see the smile on their faces each morning after reading the personal Heart Attack Valentines love notes from Dad or Mom.
How To Start This Valentine’s Day Tradition
This Valentine’s tradition is an easy way you can show your kiddos how special they are to you!
To start this tradition with your family you will need 14 hearts for each person. Simply use pieces of construction paper to cut out the hearts.
If you have more than one kiddo sharing a room, consider using the same color of paper for each child or make sure to write their name on each heart.
Next write a love note on the front of the heart.
Lastly, after your kiddos have gone to bed tape a heart to their bedroom door starting on Feb 1st and do this continually until Feb 14th.
Each morning they will wake up to a personalized note from you! I know they will be excited to receive a special love note each morning just as my kids are.
Fill In The Blank Hearts
Now you may be thinking, how will I come up with 14 different love notes for my child. And if you have more than one kiddo that may seem a little overwhelming to embark on this heart attack tradition.
Don’t worry mama, I have you covered!
I’ve created printable fill in the blank hearts for you (and me 😉 ). These hearts have phrases on them to help you write personal and individual love notes for each kiddo or family member in your house.
There are 14 hearts with fill in the blank phrases and a few blank hearts so you can write your own love note.
Mom Tip: Take the time to fill in the hearts in one sitting. Life gets busy and we may forget to put up a new heart each night. But if we do the work up front then it will make this Heart Attack tradition so much easier!
Here are a few of the phrases included in the Heart Attack Valentines printable:
“You make me smile when__________.”
“____________ is one of your best characteristics.”
“You’re so funny when ______________.”
“Kindness shows when you _____________.”
“I love you because ____________.”
If you will be writing hearts for multiple people have an envelope or baggie to place each person’s set of hearts in. This will keep the hearts and you organized.
Get The Family Involved
After your kids receive their first few hearts they may even want to join in on this tradition and write love notes for family members too.
Print out a set of hearts for your kiddos to fill in and give to their siblings. Everyone can participate in this Valentine’s Day Heart Attack!
This Valentine’s Day tradition is a simple and meaningful way to show your kiddos and family how much you love and care about them. I hope that you enjoy giving these love notes to your kiddos this Valentine’s Day and that is becomes a special tradition for your family each year!
