It’s back to school time! This year I will be homeschooling my 3 year old daughter. She will be in Pre-K. Calendar time is the first part of her school day. I created these fun apple-themed calendar cards for her pocket chart.
The calendar pocket chart cards help to teach the month, days of the week, yesterday, today and tomorrow. The cards are set up in an ABAB pattern. These cards will be a fun way to teach her about pattern sequences and time.
We start each school day with calendar time. Here is our routine:
Calendar Time Routine
Sing the Days of the Week song: (to the tune of “The Adams Family”)
Days of the week (clap, clap) Days of the week (clap, clap) Days of the week, Days of the week, Days of the week (clap, clap)
There’s Sunday and there’s Monday, there’s Tuesday and there’s Wednesday, there’s Thursday and there’s Friday and then there’s Saturday
Days of the week (clap, clap) Days of the week (clap, clap) Days of the week, Days of the week, Days of the week (clap, clap)
(Repeat)
Next we say the complete date: Today is, Tuesday, August 14 2017. We also go over what “Yesterday was” and “Tomorrow will be”. Then I have her repeat back to me “Today is”
She really enjoys learning the days of the week and loves to sing the song every school day!

Preparing the Apple Mini Calendar Cards only took a few steps:
- Print out the Apple Mini Calendar Cards on white card stock paper.
- Laminate the cards for durability. I use the Scotch Thermal Laminator.
- Use a paper cutter for clean, straight cuts or scissors.
- Place cards in mini pocket chart (I found ours at Target in the Dollar Spot) or calendar pocket chart.
The apple-themed cards are great for back-to-school and fall. They are the perfect size for a mini pocket chart and calendar pocket chart.
You can print your own Apple Mini Calendar Cards by visiting my Teachers Pay Teachers Store.
