This fun spring family activities bucket list will get your family outside and enjoying nature together. Easy and great ideas to do together in springtime!
Spring is almost here and I’ve been thinking about some fun family activities I’d like to plan and do.
The weather is so perfect in the Arizona desert during spring. We love to spend a lot of time outdoors as we know the hot summer days are fast approaching.
I came up with a spring family activities bucket list to help us get outside together as a family.
Spring Family Activities Bucket List
Use these ideas as a guide to create your own spring family fun. Don’t feel as though you have to complete each item on the list. Let each kiddo choose his/her favorite idea they would like to do!
1. Plant Flowers
We have planted flowers from seeds and also just purchased flowers already growing to plant. Both ways are enjoyable and kids love to watch flowers grow and water them.
2. Play In Puddles
We don’t get much rain in the desert. When it does rain the kids love to go out and splash and play in the puddles! This activity can be enjoyed by all ages and the best part is it’s a free and spontaneous activity.

3. Read Spring Books
I like to pick out books from the library all about spring and Easter. Have the kids read and learn about the season and how plants grow.
4. Take a Walk or Hike
Go on a family walk or find a local trail to hike together.
5. Fly A Kite
Spring weather brings the right winds for kite flying. Pick up an inexpensive kite from your local dollar store. My kids have even watched YouTube videos on building their own homemade kites!
6. Decorate or Dye Eggs
I like to take the easy route and have my kiddos decorate eggs with stickers. We have dyed eggs in past years but I’m not a fan of the mess. Either way the kids do enjoy this spring family tradition.
7. Easter Egg Hunt
Having an egg hunt on Easter is one of our family traditions. I like to fill plastic eggs with candy and coins. We color code the eggs for each kiddos to make it easier. Each kiddo has 12 eggs to find.
My younger too like to keep using their plastic eggs to put on an egg hunt of their own too.
8. Draw With Sidewalk Chalk
Add some color to your driveway and sidewalk with chalk! You can create art or make a game of hopscotch.
Last year we invited our neighbors to join in the fun by having a Chalk Walk. Everyone on our street made chalk art in their driveways for the whole neighborhood to enjoy.
9. Catch Bugs
Go on a bug hunt and try to find ladybugs, butterflies and beetles. You can grab a bug catching kit from your local dollar store or a butterfly net.
10. Blow Bubbles
Buy a giant container of bubbles. Blow bubbles for the kids to run and chase. Teach them how to blow bubbles too!
11. Look For Rainbows
If you have a day with rain and sunshine head outside to see if you can spot a rainbow. Add to the excitement and go for a car ride and try to catch the rainbow 😉
12. Make A Bunny Craft
Use this free printable bunny template to create a craft that you can hang up in your home.
13. Have A Picnic
Pack some sack lunches or grab some food to go and have a picnic in your backyard. Layout a blanket or find an outdoor table.
14. Visit The Farmers Market
Help support your local farmers and buy some fresh produce at the farmers market.
15. Family Bike Ride
Fill up those bike tires and take an evening bike ride.
16. Spring Cleaning Day
Pick a day to have the whole family help clean up the house inside and out. Wash windows and sweep the driveway. Even little kiddos can help by dusting or wiping down furniture.
17. Go To A Park
Spend an afternoon or a weekend at a local park.
18. Take A Family Photo
Take a selfie or hire a professional to take your families photo.
19. Pick or Buy Tulips
Buy a bouquet of tulips to display in your home. Tulips are such a cheerful spring flower. If you have a local tulip field take the family on an outing to pick tulips.
20. Decorate Your Home For Spring
Add some fun and bright spring home decorations to your entryway or living room.
