Why Make Your Own Foaming Hand Soap?

For starters it’s so easy to do! You only need 3 ingredients to make your own foaming hand soap.

Also you can customize the scent to your preference. I personally love using citrus scents.

There may be affiliate links in this post! By clicking on them, or purchasing recommended items I may receive a small compensation, at no cost to you! However, I only recommend products that I absolutely love and use in my own home or would love to use! Thank you for supporting Miss Sue Living when you shop! See my disclosure policy for more info!

The top reason I started making my own foaming hand soap is because store bought soaps contain chemicals and fragrances that I don’t want to put on my skin or my kiddos skin.

By making my own soap I know exactly what ingredients are in it and that they are safe for my family.

Supplies For Making Non Toxic Foaming Hand Soap

You only need 3 ingredients to make your soap and foaming soap dispenser(s). The initial cost may seem a little pricey but once you have these supplies they will last you a long time and save you money on soap in the long run.

1. Castile Soap (unscented)- I use Dr. Bronners Unscented so that I can choose the scent of my soap.

2. Distilled water- this water has had most of its impurities removed.

3. Essential oil- I like Young Living Essential Oils. My favorites for foaming hand soap are Theives, Lemon, Lime and Citrus Fresh. Choose your favorite essential oil scent.

4. Foaming soap dispenser – I purchased glass foaming soap dispensers from Amazon but if you have any at home already just use those! Please note: If you choose to use a citrus essential oil you will need a glass dispenser. Citrus oils can slowly eat away at plastic.

5. Funnel (optional)- Using a funnel can be helpful in eliminating spills while making your soap (speaking from experience) but totally optional.

How To Make Non Toxic Foaming Hand Soap

This recipe will make a little over 8 ounces of soap. You can double if needed depending on your soap dispenser volume.

STEP 1: Add 3 Tbsp liquid castile soap to foaming soap dispenser. (I use the funnel on this step)

STEP 2: Add 10-15 drops essential oil. Use less if you have sensitive skin.

Be sure to select a high quality essential oil. Some essential oils sold in stores have additives and fragrance. You want to select a pure grade essential oil to keep this recipe non-toxic. I personally use Young Living or Doterra essential oils.

STEP 3: Pour 1 cup (8oz) distilled water into the soap dispenser.

STEP 4: Screw lid on dispenser and gently swirl liquid around to mix.

STEP 5: Pump the dispenser, wash hands and enjoy your homemade foaming hand soap!

This DIY foaming hand soap recipe is super simple to make. You can even feel confident in having your kids make it since it’s non toxic.

🍎This weekend we went to one of my favorite pla 🍎This weekend we went to one of my favorite places to conclude my birthday celebrations. @apple_annies is such a fun family activity and everyone always finds their perfect pumpkin.
.
Honestly, we debated going this year as the cost of gas is higher right now. It's a 2 hour drive for us. But my hubby knows how much I enjoy going. It's my little taste of fall in the desert.
.
So we made it happen by cutting out a few things like:
▪️packing our own lunches & snacks
▪️walking instead of taking the tractor ride
▪️only buying one pumpkin each
▪️taking a family picture in the apple orchard, but not picking apples
.
Even though we didn't do "all the things" at the orchard this time we made the best memories. It's about having fun with those we love and care about, no matter how small or simple.
