Color Code The Eggs
Make the egg stuffing and hunt easy on yourself Dad & Mom. Color code the eggs or select a different egg pattern for each kiddo.
Instead of a free for all, assign each child a color and set them out on a mission to find each egg of that designated color.
If you have toddlers it’s very helpful to use one solid color of plastic egg for your child to find.
Give littles a piece of colored paper that coordinates with their egg color. Tape it to their basket so they know what color of egg belongs to them. If they are able to count you can also write the number of eggs to find on the colored paper.
When you have multiple kids hunting for eggs the color method will ensure an even distribution of egg finds. Avoiding any tears or melt-downs is key to having a fun egg hunt!
Only Hide 12 Eggs Per Child
Decide on the number of eggs you want to hide for each child. I choose to only fill and hide 12 eggs for each of my kiddos.
The number of eggs you hide will determine how much prep time you will need to fill and hide the eggs.
Keep that in mind when deciding how many eggs each child will be searching for.
12 eggs per kiddo may not seem like a lot, but you can make the hunt challenging or easy.
What To Put In Eggs
It doesn’t have to be all candy!
Cash is always a favorite for my kiddos! We put quarters and dollar bills in some of our kiddos eggs.
Print tickets or coupons that kids can redeem for special activities or prizes to be used later. If you plan to have an outdoor egg hunt using tickets can save you from ending up with melted candies in eggs.

Buy a small Lego set and divide the pieces into the plastic eggs. After your kiddo finds all the eggs give them the directions so they can build the set!
Recycle The Plastic Eggs
If the eggs are not cracked or broken consider saving them for the following year.
Toddlers love to hide eggs and play egg hunt over & over again. Keep the eggs out for the week following Easter for your toddler to play with.
Have the kids hide the eggs and then the parents go find them!
