September is almost here and most families have kids heading back to school. Here in Arizona most kids have been in school for a couple of weeks. Moving back into the school schedule can be a little rough. Each morning you have a checklist of things to remember not only for yourself, but for your kids, too. Let me remove one big item off your daily checklist: meal planning.

Meal planning can sound daunting but we all know that it can save us time and money. So this month I wanted to do the dinner meal planning for you! I have planned out 5 weeks of dinner meals for you and your family to make. All of the meals are the exact same meals I will be making my family in September. All the recipes have been tried and approved by my kiddos and husband.

Each week contains 5 dinner meals. But wait, you may be wondering why only 5? Selecting five meals for each week leaves space for a night when you may not be home for dinner. You also may have a night when left-overs can be eaten. No need to waste money on food that won’t get eaten!

Also, this dinner menu plan does not assign a meal to a particular day.  I like to leave some freedom to choose what you may feel like making that day.  You may want to give a family member the choice of picking out what you will have for dinner that night. This is a great way to get your kids involved in helping with meal prep. Let them choose the dinner meal they would like to help you prepare or even make themselves!

Every week contains one crock-pot meal. Crock-pot meals are great for a really busy night. You just add the ingredients to your slow cooker and then forget about it.

The September Menu Plan Printable has a section for breakfast ideas, lunch ideas and snack ideas. There is also space to write in any special occasions or holidays you may have in September. Recipe links are included in the printable PDF file and I have added the recipe links for each meal below.

Shopping for your September dinner meals will be simple. I’ve included a Shopping List Printable with the menu plan. Print it out and add the needed ingredients to your shopping list for the week. There are 2 shopping lists on the page. You can add ingredients for two weeks at a time or just cut it in half and fill it out week by week. I like to keep a shopping list on my fridge so I can easily add to it throughout the week.

I hope this September meal plan will help to alleviate one thing from your “to-do” list this month!

.
Honestly, we debated going this year as the cost of gas is higher right now. It's a 2 hour drive for us. But my hubby knows how much I enjoy going. It's my little taste of fall in the desert.
.
So we made it happen by cutting out a few things like:
▪️packing our own lunches & snacks
▪️walking instead of taking the tractor ride
▪️only buying one pumpkin each
▪️taking a family picture in the apple orchard, but not picking apples
.
Even though we didn't do "all the things" at the orchard this time we made the best memories. It's about having fun with those we love and care about, no matter how small or simple.
