I almost didn’t decorate for Valentine’s Day this year. It feels like I just got all the Christmas decorations put away and I was enjoying the clean and bare shelves and walls in our home.
But then I watched some Dollar Tree Valentines Day hauls on YouTube and quickly changed my mind. hehe
I am keeping my Valentine decor minimal by only decorating my floating shelf and in my kitchen. My entry table is going to remain a blank slate until I break out my spring decorations.

Items To Use in Your Valentine’s Day Mantel Decorations
You definitely will want to use hearts in all shapes, colors and sizes!
Fun felt garlands or heart garlands are easy to make yourself or inexpensive to purchase.
Roses, tulips or wreaths.
Wood signs with quotes or large wood block letters. Last year I made my own Valentine frames for my entryway. These could easily be used on a mantel as well!
How To Decorate A Mantel For Valentine’s Day
Start by clearing the space you will be decorating. Remove all items from your mantel or floating shelf. Dust and wipe down the surface.
Once you have a clear space get out your Valentine’s decorations. You can shop your own home and look for pieces that are red and pink.
With your selection of Valentine’s Day decor items it’s time to decorate your mantel.
Select a larger item such as a window frame or mirror for your focal point. This larger decor item will catch the viewers eye first.
Begin to layer items in front of your larger focal piece. During this process you should take a step back to view placement of decor items. Decide if you want to add more or move items around.
My Simple Mantel Decor
This year I did not buy any new Valentine’s decor. As I said earlier I was enjoying my clean space.
I choose to shop my home and use items I already had to create my simple and cute Valentines Day mantel Decorations.
I hope these ideas help inspire you to create a beautiful Valentine’s mantel or floating shelf in your home!
