Invite your neighbors to participate in Chalk Your Walk. This is a super fun way to connect with your neighbors and community and get in some exercise. Print out the invitations and get your chalk on!
My family and I have recently started taking daily walks through the neighborhood. Many other family and neighbors are doing the same thing now that we are encouraged to stay home and only go out for essentials.
[If you are reading this blog post at a later date, this was written during the global coronavirus / COVID-19 pandemic. We are all staying home and practicing social distancing in order to slow the spread of the virus. Some parts of the world are under quarantine.]
Everyone is looking for ways to stay positive and healthy during this time.
Last week on a sunny morning I had the kiddos go play outside in the front yard. They decided to get creative with sidewalk chalk and draw some fun pictures and quotes on the driveway and sidewalk.
Coming out and seeing these creations brought a smile to my face. That got me thinking about how great it would be to invite my neighbors to do the same.
We could have the whole block get in on a Chalk Your Walk and bring some smiles to the neighborhood.
Invite Your Neighbors To Chalk Your Walk
I decided to make an invitation and ask our neighbors to join in the fun for a Chalk Your Walk.
The kids helped me by putting a piece of sidewalk chalk into a plastic baggie and attaching it with a stapler to the door hanger invitations.
We then went up and down both sides of our street hanging the invitations on our neighbors doors until we ran out.
The invitation invited the neighbors to draw happy pictures or quotes on their driveways or sidewalks next to their homes.
A date was added to give some direction as to when to have the chalk creations completed and then reminded them to get out and take a walk to enjoy the beautiful art.
My family was very excited to go for a walk and see how many of our neighbors decided to join in the Chalk Your Walk.

While we waited for our neighbors to join in, the kids and I brought out our inner artist and designed these pictures on our driveway and sidewalk.
Two days later we enjoyed a family walk and saw that a few homes had joined in and participated in the Chalk Your Walk.
This activity is a great way to spread cheer in the neighborhood and build the feeling of community during a time when we are being safe by staying home. It can help us still feel connected to those around us and less isolated.
