Summer is a time for friends and grilling. I still remember the first time I had this delicious Grilled Teriyaki Chicken.
My husband and I were living in our first home and our neighbors had invited us over for dinner. We were just getting to know this new family.
I could smell the chicken cooking when we arrived. I was informed that I was about to have the most amazing grilled chicken ever. They were right! This Grilled Teriyaki Chicken was amazing!
My husband was drooling over his dinner and I was begging for this amazing secret recipe.
My neighbor informed me how ridiculously easy and simple this recipe was, but she just had to keep it a secret.
Well after a couple years our neighbors became one of our closest family friends. And you know what; she shared that secret recipe with me!
If you are looking for an amazing grilling recipe to WOW your neighbors-look no further. This is it!
Directions:
Start with your preferred selection of grilling meat. I have always used this teriyaki marinade with chicken tenders or chicken breasts. You could also try it on steak or pork chops.
In a one gallon zip-lock bag place ½ cup soy sauce, ¼ cup brown sugar, 2 Tbsp olive oil, ½ tsp cracked black pepper, and 2 garlic cloves, minced.
Add meat to bag. Seal bag and mix well until all brown sugar has dissolved.
Place teriyaki marinade bag onto a cookie sheet and then place in the fridge for 24 hours. Turn bag once during this time.
Don’t skip the 24 hour marinade time. This is what adds to the juicy flavor! (Trust me, I have tried to rush this process and the flavor just was not the same.)
Once your meat is done marinating you are ready for grilling.
Take a look at this meat grilling guide and meat grilling guide I found at Broil King for the best cooking times on your meat.

Grilled Teriyaki Chicken
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soy sauce For a gluten- free & soy-free version replace with Bragg Organic Coconut Aminos Soy-Free
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
- 2 lb boneless chicken tenders or breast
Instructions
-
Mix all ingredients in a 1 gallon zip-lock bag.
-
Place desired meat in bag.
-
Marinade in bag over night in the refrigerator, turning bag over once.
Recipe Notes
It's a good idea to place a plate or cookie sheet under the marinade bag in case of a leak!
If substituting the soy-sauce with coconut aminos it will give the marinade a sweeter flavor, but still just as delicious!
