How To Make Christmas Cookies In A Jar
Christmas cookies in a jar are very easy to assemble.
To make your jar look pretty you want to create layers out of the ingredients.
Watch my YouTube video below to see step-by-step visual instructions.
Begin by placing the flour in the jar first. Tap the jar gently on the table to help the flour “settle” in the bottom. You can also pat the flour down with the back of a spoon.
Next sprinkle the salt and baking soda on top of the flour.
Third you will add the brown sugar and gently pat it down with a spoon or spatula.
Fourth add granulated sugar. Make sure it is spread evenly over the top of the brown sugar to continue the layered look.
To finish off your layers, add the Christmas colored M&M’s. (If you don’t have M&M’s you can use chocolate chips).
Now that you have added all the ingredients it’s time to top off your jar with a lid and embellishments.
Cut out a round piece of fabric about 6 inches in diameter. Place the fabric on top of the metal lid and then screw on the metal ring to secure in place.
Next choose ribbon or twine to add a bow to the jar lid. This is when you can add an embellishment and gift tag to the jar.
I choose a sparkly snow frosted pinecone and hemp twine for my jars. Then I personalize them with the printable gift tags.
There are two printable gift tag options. One tag is for a teacher or coach. The second gift tag option is for anyone.
The gift tags also include the instructions for the receiver on how to bake the cookies. They only need to add 3 wet ingredients to make the cookies (butter, vanilla and eggs).
You can get your own printable cookies in a jar gift tags including baking directions by entering you name and email in the form below.
These cookies in a jar are a beautiful and easy gift to put together for teachers, friends, family and neighbors.
What are some optional add-ins to cookies in a jar?
You can swap out the M&M’s for any type of chocolate chip. Semi-sweet, dark chocolate, white chocolate or butterscotch chips.
Try adding in ½ cup crushed candy canes just below the chocolate layer to make a more Christmasy flavored cookie.
