I HAVE A BLOG!
But wait, isn’t blogging dead?!
Well I’m here to show you that blogging is not dead. I’ve been taking my time learning all I can about blogging (umm, 2 years of time). And now I’m confident enough or just crazy enough to launch this site and start providing content for my amazing friends!
Before I even owned a home or had a family I was looking for ways to be creative.
You could find me outside planting flowers in the backyard garden at my parents home or with my grandma. My bedroom was a canvas to decorate. Constructing magazine picture collages or painting quotes from poets on my wall. Making sketches of my friends and writing poems was a passion of mine through high school.
I enjoyed watching the Martha Stewart Living Television show. I liked to try out different recipes and crafts she would share. I liked how she used her creativity in the home. At one point I thought it would be pretty cool to take over her business 🙂 My Grandma would give me her old copies of Better Homes and Garden Magazine to read. I loved looking through them and dreaming of what my garden and home would look like someday. I would create a beautiful picture in my mind and sometimes sketch it on paper.
My desire to bake was fueled by my Grandma. She would invite my sister and I over to help her in the kitchen making cookies and pies. One of her best recipes was Sour Cream Cut-Outs. (After over 10 years I think I may have perfected that special treat!) My Mom taught me the basics of cooking when I was twelve and had my sister and I take turns making a dinner each week. We would make spaghetti, casseroles and baked chicken. I’m thankful to both of them for letting me in the kitchen!
Now in my 30’s with both a family and home of my own the creativity hasn’t stopped.
It has manifested into different ways. Planning kids birthday parties is super fun for me. I like to create a themed space for family and friends to come over and celebrate the birthday girl or boy! Making time to craft with my kids is important to me. Decorating and organizing our home gives me joy and I like to make it a cozy and welcoming space for memories to be made. You will find me baking in the kitchen several times a week. Loaves of bread, muffins and granola bars are on my family’s favorites list.
This blog allows me to express my excitement for creativity with all of you!
In this space I plan to share ways to streamline everyday living. You know: all the “must do” tasks to running a household. Like planning dinners, cleaning the bathroom and dusting (dusting is one of my least favorite chores! Never-ever look at my blinds!). Let’s get a system in place to manage the home and family so that we can reduce stress and make more room for joy. Make room to create!
Will you follow along in this blogging journey? Watch as things evolve and grow. I’d love to have you along for the ride!
